MapQuest GPS Navigation & Maps App Reviews

Updates have dragged down the user experience. This used to be my favorite app for navigation, mainly due to real-time traffic based re-routes. Very useful and accuracy was hard to beat. However: the most recent iOS updates have changed mapquest for the worse. Things I dont like: -App absolutely refuses to account for road closures. There are 2 on my commute. I cant find a way to let the app know of the closures - the feature isnt working for me. I use the app for time-based routes to avoid traffic delays. I mean, I know the street is closed. But the detour makes a difference of several minutes. So the accuracy is just not great! -the "options" button is hidden somewhere now. When I want to get a route avoiding highways, cant do anymore because dont have time to play hide and seek. Interface changes not helpful. -Ditch the "route is yours" message! I dont understand the point. Maybe right after a major update, it would make sense to educate the user about follow which is a simple GPS feature and not a feature unique to this app. However, I hate having it pop up EVERY time I jump ahead to see the next steps. Really really annoying and unnecessary. -Recent updates have affected the startup speed. The app is pretty slow to open. I already have to press "directions" then look up recents, then select, then "get directions!" (Redundant) then "start" ...it takes too long. Im quite literally lost without my old trusty mapquest and I hope these negatives are addressed soon- especially bringing accuracy and speed and real time back up to par.

Be forewarned folks! This app does not allow you to name you favorite addresses. So be prepared to memorize what each is. They removed this feature in the last upgrade. Whoever made that decision is obviously completely clueless!!! I have just switched to Waze!

This is the only app that I know of that allows multiple stops to be entered. However, because I have several stops across the US to plan, I like to use my iPad - but this app is horrible on the iPad. When will you do an iPad version?

please create inverted colors at night so I can keep my screen backlit without being blinded by the white UI while driving at night. Thanks -J

My subdivision is over 5 years old but still does not show up on Mapquest. We have to tell everyone to use Google Maps to get to our home because Mapquest says there is no such location. I have tried after the update to report inaccurate information but it doesnt allow me to write anything. You would think a place that has has homes almost 6 years old would show up. The data needs to be updated. Use Google Maps for more accurate locations.

Delivered me to abandoned parking lot last night while looking for hotel. Was 5 miles off. "You have reached your destination on the left." Buuuullshyte!

Great job , so accurate and choices for better driving

Love the traffic ribbon so I know where traffic is backed up on my route beyond the immediate map view.

I like the app, but this update needs some work. Tried several times & the update wont install.

This is a great app when it works. This evening the audio just stopped. I deleted the app and now it wont reinstall. Ive chosen to go with Waze since I need a gps... Fix the app.

As I was driving with a small child in massive amounts of traffic the audio (which I count on to help as I am watching the road) stopped working and I became terribly lost!! Time for an update asap!!!

The app is evidently designed more as a navigation tool than as an actual map service. It wastes precious screen space on an iPad with menus that might work if all you want is transit directions on a phone, and not a cramped, nearly cartoonish map.

Planned route on computer and it will not import to the app. Sent link to phone and nothing. Fix this please

The app allows you to avoid tolls, unlike google maps.

Downloads but then just sits there. Does not install.

Just randomly stops navigating mid trip.

I just spent 2 hours trying to find 18 new home developments in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV so we could have this app put them in a logical driving order. Most dont exist in Mapquest yet, so a great deal of time was needed to identify nearby cross streets that the map system will recognize. When I finished the list, I tried to find the option to have the app sort them. Instead I somehow deleted the entire list! I had tapped on the only option that was visible on the screen. Of course, the "recents" search list only had addresses I had searched for that didnt exist in the app! I could just scream I am so frustrated!!!

the ONLY nav app (not even Waze) that could gave me enough route options to avoid parkways, weight restricted roads and no truck roads considering I drive a commercial vehicle (not a tractor trailer). PLEASE ADD AN AVOID ROAD OR A NO TRUCK ROAD OPTION AND IT WILL BE PERFECT.
